Google Books Loses Copyright Infringement

A Paris court has ruled that Google (NSDQ: GOOG) is guilty of violating copyrights in a case brought by French publishers against the search giant’s digital books project. Google will have to pay €300,000 ($430,000) in damages and interest to French publisher La Martiniere, the AP reported. The search giant was also ordered to pay €10,000 ($14,330) per day until it takes down portions of the French books from its online database. News - Latest News

ViasatYou may have been hearing about a new U.S. broadband Internet satellite for some time now, but new information has just been released and I'm here to tell you all about it today! According to PC World, a California satellite technology provider, ViaSat, has signed a deal to put a broadband Internet satellite into orbit around the United States in the first part of 2011.

The satellite has been named ViaSat-1 and it will be launched on an Arianespace rocket from the space port in Kourou, French Guiana. The ViaSat-1 will have an overall throughput of 100G bits per second (bps), which will allow it to support 2M bps service to approximately two million Internet users. The new broadband satellite is expected to be the highest capacity satellite in the world, which should help lower the costs of broadband Internet services on down the road.

ArianespaceViaSat is a company based out of California and they specialize in satellite communication systems with their specialties being military, security and corporate applications. ViaSat will own the new broadband satellite, but they're hoping to work with other companies who will offer Internet services. Again, the new satellite is planned for launch in 2011, so it will be along shortly. In the meantime, you can sit and think about how cool it will be once it's all done.
